Operations

  • Assistant General Manager
  • The Assistant General Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to perform those duties that the General Manager cannot take the time for: running jobs to Kinko’s for printing / folding, overseeing the Ops Monkeys, and general duties as needed.

    • Ops Monkeys
    • Ops Monkeys are the peons of events. These are the gophers, the runners, and other various miscellaneous duties. Ops Monkeys are typically players who’ve agreed to be available during an event for these tasks in exchange for some Goblin Stamps. Unless already performing a task or currently involved in plot, Ops Monkeys can be conscripted by any Operations Staff.

  • Director of Logistics and Records
  • The Director of Logistics & Records is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of all records and details of players, characters, site maintenance and bookings, and website design and maintenance. The Director is responsible for all character / NPC electronic maintenance as well as accurate non-financial record-keeping for the Chapter. At events, the Director will be the primary point of contact for players for tags, and character cards. The Director will also be responsible for making sure the site is left in a clean and orderly manner, that all Players have checked in / out, and that any site issues that crop up are taken care of in a timely and safe manner.

    • Logistics Assistant
    • The Logistics Assistant is responsible for assisting players at events with registration, interim needs, and answering questions regarding player characters. The Assistant is also the primary point of contact for new players with regard to character creation. The Logistics Assistant is also responsible for insuring that all new players have gone through New Player Orientation.

  • Directory of Safety
  • The Director of Safety has but one responsibility – to insure that the Chapter is maintaining a safe environment at all times. Primary duties will include helping the Production Coordinator / Propmaster with instruction in proper weapon construction and insuring safety at all levels of the organization. At an event, the Director will be the sole authority on all matters related to safety, and will have final say over all matters in this area. Also, the Director will insure that in this hot climate, all Players, NPCs, and Staff members are adequately hydrated.

  • Safety Marshals
  • Click here for more detailed information on Safety Marshals. However, their primary responsibility is to insure the safety of everyone at any NERO Event. Safety Marshals have the authority to suspend players if they persist in unsafe activities. Safety Marshals can also inspect weapons and authorize them for use at an event.

    • Weapons Marshals
    • Click here for more detailed information on Weapons Marshals. Weapons Marshals are responsible for checking all weapons and ensuring their safety for use at NERO events.  Weapons Marshals may ask to inspect a weapon at any time, and the weapon must be turned over to them if requested. Weapons Marshals may confiscate unsafe weapons, which will be returned to their owners at the end of the event.

Plot

  • Senior Plot Members
  • Senior Plot Members are responsible for coming up with individual plotlines that integrate themselves well with the existing background and history of our in-game region, as well as overseeing junior plot members (Plot Monkeys). Senior Plot Members are responsibile for running individual modules and may be called upon to perform other various tasks. They are also responsible for implementing ideas and direction from the Director of Plot & Rules. Significant LARPing experience is required for this position, and prior plot experience at a NERO Chapter or similar is preferred.

    • Plot Monkeys
    • Plot Monkeys are mainly responsible for playing recurring Plot roles that cannot be handled by regular NPCs, as well as performing tasks that may be required of them by Senior Plot or the Director. Plot Monkey are occasionally tasked with running individual modules, if they have demonstrated talent in this area.

  • Formal Magic Marshals
  • FM Marshal’s can inspect and authorize players to cast formal magic spells while in-game. The FM Marshal will attend the Formal Spell Casting and will accept all components from the caster when the spell is completed, marking spell details on all casters cards as necessary.

  • Monster Marshals
  • A Monster Marshal is responsible for insuring that the monsters / npc’s in a given module or encounter are played correctly based on their skills / abilities, and that the NPC’s are following the direction of the Plot member in charge of the module / encounter. Not all encounters will include a Monster Marshal.

  • Race Marshals
  • The Race Marshal advises players on how to apply make-up, dress in proper Racial garb and how to role-play a character of that Race in General.  Race Marshals are also responsible for reviewing each character in-game, every quarter or so, to evaluate if the proper make-up and aesthetics are being used, or to warn if someone who is not playing their race correctly. Race Marshals are the single point of contact in the Chapter for information regarding a particular race.

  • Rules Marshals
  • A Rules Marshal can answer a question about how a NERO rule works. There is rarely ever a reason to call a hold to find out how a rule works.  Rules Marshals make calls when a question arises during game play. A ‘field judgment’ on a rules question will always stand as the Marshal states. Field judgments can be appealed after the event, or in the case of an especially urgent matter, by contacting the Head of Plot for the event, though this should be used only in the most exceptional cases.

Production

  • Propmaster / Production Coordinator
  • This individual should be skilled in the making of specialty props and / or costumes, many from scratch or customized versions of other items. This position requires a dependable, energetic and creative person who wants to aid in creating an in-game world as immersive as possible for our players.

The Production Coordinator / Propmaster’s primary responsibility is maintaining adequate amounts of NPC equipment, as well as any necessary props (lighting, smoke machines, etc). The Coordinator is also responsible for teaching new Players / Staff correct methods of weapon / armor construction, and as such, will work closely with the Director of Safety to insure that all NERO Safety Guidelines can be adequately met.

At an event, the Coordinator is responsible for insuring that all Chapter property is removed from the site by Chapter Staff – not Players. Other than coinage / tags, the Coordinator is responsible for all Chapter property transported to / from an event.

  • Production Monkeys
  • Production Monkeys are responsible for assisting the Production Coordinator (and Assistant) with any on-site needs at events, be that rounding up spell packets for Monster Camp, transporting some needed props to a module site, or helping to construct a set. Props Monkeys may also be conscripted by Plot for various tasks if not already assigned to another task.
